What's new

Every release of The Agent Office for Mac. Installed apps update themselves.

A smoother office and a smarter home page

New

  • Follow a worker's pull request directly from that worker's chat, with the watch staying with the worker across restarts.
  • Explore the new home page as a scrolling story through the office, its rooms, films and features.
  • Watch Night Shift, a new short film set in the office after dark.

Improved

  • Mark done now explains each step as it runs and keeps a worker's chat focused until the work is complete.
  • Worker cards sit more naturally beside the chat panel, and the office returns at the right size after you come back from Cards.

Fixed

  • Pull-request watches check for updates promptly and recover correctly when a worker or the app restarts.

Review lessons in Office Memory

New

  • When a review comment states a rule for the repo, the worker saves it in Office Memory and credits the reviewer. Memory shows it as from that person's review.

Improved

  • A worker hears a person's written review and comments on the pull request conversation, not only comments on a line of code. Summaries from bots, empty reviews, and bare approvals are left out.
  • Feedback that is not on a line of code links to the pull request itself.

Fixed

  • A review you write on a worker's pull request is saved, even when that pull request was opened from your GitHub account. The worker's own replies are not.
  • Restarting the app does not send the same feedback again, and it does not give back fix attempts that were already used.

A Cyberpunk office

New

  • Cyberpunk is a new office style under Settings, in Office style: a loft at night in a rainy neon city. It is available from the start.
  • The pinball machine is a real machine in every room. Its lights chase on their own and flash while someone plays.

Improved

  • Each coding agent has its own default model and effort, under Settings, in Workspace, Coding agents. A new Claude hire starts on Opus at medium effort.

Fixed

  • Default effort is Medium, so a worker no longer picks up a higher effort from the coding agent's own settings.
  • When a coding agent hits a usage limit, the message says so instead of Internal error.
  • The reviewer's name lines up with its buttons, without a second Reviewer label.
  • A requested reviewer uses a different coding agent and model when one is available, and it runs at medium effort.

Bug fixes

  • Bug fixes.

Manga, a black and white office

New

  • Manga is a new office style under Settings, in Office style: the room in black ink on white paper, chat replies in speech balloons, and focus lines when someone levels up. It is available from the start, and it is always drawn in ink.
  • Ask for anything has Discuss. It hires someone to talk the request through with you first, and the plan waits until you choose Start work.

Improved

  • The attach button sits inside the Ask box, beside the microphone.

Fixed

  • A worker you fired stays gone, instead of sitting back down a moment later.
  • Mark done and Fire remove the worktree once the branch is merged, including after a squash merge.
  • A question shows every lettered choice, and the answer you pick reaches the agent.
  • When a reply ends in a failed request, you get Retry, and what the agent already wrote stays as the message.
  • Several problems on one pull request count as one try, so later comments still come through.

Chat times, and Retry when a reply fails

New

  • Worker chats show the time over the first message, and again after a 30-minute pause: Today 3:30 PM, Yesterday 3:45 PM, or the date.

Improved

  • When several review comments arrive together, the worker gets one message asking them to review the pull request.
  • A reply stays with the message it answers, so a long turn does not pick up a new time in the middle.

Fixed

  • When an agent ends a turn with its own failed request, such as a dropped connection, you get Retry instead of that line as the reply.
  • The error message clears once a worker is working again. A message sent while a worker is starting waits and is delivered in order.

A more connected office

New

  • The office gets dressed up for Halloween, with seasonal decorations, costumes and treats.

Improved

  • Connect GitHub separately for each repository, so each repo can use the account that has access to it.
  • Reviewers can use another available coding agent when the worker's usual runner is unavailable.
  • Add and remove repositories directly in Settings, and keep PR watching working through temporary GitHub hiccups.
  • The office now saves your clone folder as you change it.

Fixed

  • GitHub connection status now distinguishes an account that is unknown from one that was refused.

Meet Byte, and cards that make room for chat

New

  • Byte the cat roams the office, naps in sun patches and loafs on desks. Click Byte to say hello, or turn it off in Settings → Perks → Pets.

Improved

  • In the Cards view, opening a worker's chat moves the cards aside instead of covering them. They keep their full size and scroll beside the chat.
  • Hold to dictate now works anywhere in the chat window, not just in the message box.
  • Icons replace emoji and text symbols across the app, and search boxes get their own clear button.
  • Links in the Workers panel are easy to read in the dark theme.

Fixed

  • When a worker asks several questions at once, each question now shows its own choices.

Talk to your office, and talk a ticket through first

New

  • Voice input: hold Right Option in a message box, or click the mic beside Send, to dictate. Speech is transcribed on your Mac, and Clean up with AI can tidy the wording, with Show original to undo it. Turn it on in Settings → General → Voice input.
  • Ticket cards in the Hire panel have a Discuss button. The worker reads the ticket and the code, asks its questions, and waits for your go-ahead before it starts, even in full auto.
  • A What's new page at theagentoffice.app/releases with notes for every release.

Improved

  • The update window lists what's new as bullets and links to the full notes.
  • Short tooltips tell Hire and Discuss apart.

One repo list when hiring

Improved

  • Hire cards have a single repo list. The first repo you tick is the one the worker works in; any others are repos it can read alongside.
  • You can change which repos a chat reads until it has started a branch.
  • Opening an idle worker fills in its slash-command menu without sending a message.
  • Updates skip the parts of the app that haven't changed, so most downloads are much smaller.

Fixed

  • The pull request watcher only follows a worker's own pull request, and asks before rehiring a worker who is done or was let go.
  • Hiring with no repo selected now asks you to pick one, instead of starting a research worker by accident.

Smoother updates

Improved

  • Updates now download only the parts of the app that changed, so most are about 28 MB instead of 500 MB. This starts with the next release.
  • Old update downloads are cleaned up when the app starts.

Fixed

  • Updates install even when your Mac account isn't an administrator.
  • If the app can't update itself, it offers the download straight away instead of downloading first.
  • If Update and restart kept downloading again for you, install this version from the DMG once; later updates install from inside the app.

Works behind company proxies

  • Opened from Finder, the app now uses your shell's proxy and certificate settings, so Claude Code, MCP servers and GitHub work behind a company proxy, just as they did when you started the office from a terminal.

Slash commands, ready right away

Improved

  • Slash commands are ready as soon as the office opens, and each worker keeps them across restarts.
  • Ask chats are named after your request, so they are easier to find later.
  • When GitHub or 8090 can't be reached, the office tells you why.

Fixed

  • GitHub and 8090 work on networks that use your Mac's own certificates.
  • Open in IDE finds Cursor and VS Code when the app is opened from Finder.

Signed and notarized

New

  • New DMG download: open it and drag The Agent Office to Applications.

Improved

  • The Mac app is now signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without security warnings when you download it in a browser.
